“Early memories of Manipal, a mountainous, misty village on the hillocks of Manipal peninsula, a eye catching Arabian sea at a distance and suddenly a modern architectural marvels on the hills of Manipal would be appropriate impressions of today's Manipal.
Manipal, physically, philosophically a place close to my heart and mind, where I began early years of learning medicine, and nurtured my way of life.
It was Manipal of yester years in sixties, a rural backdrop without the hustle and bustle of today's metropolitan Manipal that I experienced early this year. Now a city of Magnificent institutions, creations of drive, enthusiasm and vision of Pais who created these wonderful institutions of wisdom.
I recall our past President Abul Kalam describing Manipal is like a Nalanda of yore. A center of Global excellence in the field of Medicine and engineering Yester years at Kasturba, were greatest years of my life that, not only gave me a courage, sense of camaraderie, sense of service and dignity for human life. Manipal not only gave me the education but gave me the lessons in the cause of humanity and humility. Manipal is and will be a center of creative art, Medicine, science and culture.
Manipal is Nation's foremost institution of learning of this century. It has achieved universal recognition. Thanks to the dreamer, greatest educationist, founder, philosopher visionary of our times Dr. TMA Pai and his illustrious son my friend Dr. Ramdas Pai who built a world around Manipal.
Well, I am fortunate to be the product of such a great institution on earth, called Manipal. Thank you Manipal, making me who I am in this small world of my own.
May the light of knowledge from Manipal shine over the rest of the world”.

‘I left Manipal about 30 years ago with a world-class education, great memories, and, what I consider most valuable of all, a lifelong love of learning.
Today, we stand at the beginning of a new era of technology- driven change, when connectivity and intelligence will transform our lives for the better. Manipal has the important role of giving today’s students the capabilities they will need to thrive in tomorrow’s world. I hope it will also instil in them – as it did in me – an unquenchable desire for learning that will enrich the rest of their lives.’

“Energy, Excitement, and youth resonates within me when I think of Manipal.
Manipal evokes those years of being carefree, free thought, lasting friendships, infectious enthusiasm and boundaryless thinking!
The future of Manipal lies in the hands of its many stakeholders. I see Manipal building on its ethos of providing learning opportunities that impact lives.
I hope to see it as a center for nurturing and building the youth who influence others with their values and ideas for making a better world for future generations”.

Manipal means a lot to me.
“It represents one of the best phases of my life. A phase characterized by a new found independence, life learnings that go way beyond classroom and textbook, forging deep relationships with a diverse set of people from all over the country and above all ………………growing up.
From a college to an independent university, the journey of Manipal has been excellent. I can only see further successes and accomplishments in the arena of higher education”.
Rujan Panjwani
1981-85 E&E Engg. MIT, Manipal
“Manipal has the Ethos carefully nurtured by its Founding fathers and its Teachers to transform fledgling students into talented, confident professionals with skills to excel as good human beings.
We learnt Life lessons from the multi cultural diaspora of students pouring from every region of India and made everlasting friendships. The idealic location of this university town, with its progressive and gentle local population, in the cradel of Nature's bounty of pristine mountains, sea and evergreen landscape makes Manipal one of the Best centers for learning in the country and it fully deserves "Institute of eminence" status granted by the Govt of India. I am sure, Manipal will realize its dream destiny of being amongst the 200 world universities in the near future”.
Proud of you Manipal.

“Manipal laid the building blocks of what I was to be in the future. At a personal level, it toughened me, taught me independence and transformed me to live independently.
As a student, the computer programming coding bug bit me in Manipal albeit on a 16 bit micro-computer called DCM Spectrum 7. But that bug is what transformed me into a prolific coder and then later design engineer in CPU Architect at Intel.
Even my earliest political experiences were at Manipal and I recollect being a volunteer campaigner for the 1984 Lok Sabha elections for a local candidate. The experiences at Manipal, Udupi and Mangalore have stayed with me all these years and even today when I travel through or visit Manipal, it is clear that the city has now grown but its heart and soul remains what it was 30 years ago – full of young students with dreams in their heart.”

“Manipal is a cradle of information, knowledge and a seed of opportunity. It gives us tools to learn, grow and understand the transition of living in homes to surviving in the world. For me it was the first time leaving home like most of us, but it was a step into the unknown and getting prepared to take my skill to the world. It was a foundation of my dream.
I have seen the metamorphosis of humble city of Manipal into an epic educational hub under the vision of Pai family. Nestled in the middle of history and future, Manipal offers unique ideas for personal, social and global development”.

Great Institutions are known to mould and mentor talent and the Welcomgroup School of Hotel Administration is probably the finest in creating Hospitality Leaders. In my journey from a Food & Beverage Superior till a Hospitality Division CEO, WGSHA has surely provided me with the knowledge and skill sets to succeed in every experience through life.
It was at WGSHA where I learnt that no task was too small, whether it was working in Kitchen Stewarding with a Motto, “No Dish Left Behind” or in the Kitchen where we learnt to create the gastronomical experiences.
WGSHA is also the place where I fostered friendships of a lifetime and these bonds will continue to grow stronger with time.
Manipal and WGSHA as a whole didn’t just provide us with world class education but also exposed us to handle life beyond the realms of family and guardians. Post WSGHA I did continue to pursue my education and completed another Bachelors in Hospitality from Southern New Hampshire University, NH and Masters in Business Administration from Johnson & Wales University, RI, USA.
The strong work ethics induced during my grooming at WGSHA helped me accomplish and achieve milestone after milestone in my professional life with leading Hospitality Chains including Starwood Hotels & Resorts, The Leela Hotels and Palaces, The Lalit Hotels and Palaces and leading up to my current Chief Executive Officer position with Sahara Hospitality, Mumbai.
Throughout my professional journey I have always focused on the well being of my team with a firm belief of “Handling Little Things, as Big Things Fall into place if little things are well looked after”

My dental school experience at MCODS Mangalore gave me a very strong foundation that has enabled my further progress in the field of dentistry.
The standard and style of teaching and learning gently honed my interest and skill. It also inculcated in me a scientific temper and rationale that forms the basis of sound clinical judgement and effective treatment.
I am indeed privileged to be an alumnus of this great dental teaching institute. The strong foundation in dentistry that MCODS Mangalore, helped me excel in my professional career and even after a long gap from studies I was still able to secure a place in the advanced standing program for internationally trained Dentists at Boston University, giving me a full license to practice dentistry in the states. I also served as a representative for International dentist at the American Student Dental Association during my studies at Boston University.
Although it’s been nearly 15 years since I left the portals of MCODS Mangalore after completing my graduate and post-graduate studies there, believe me when I say that there’s barely a day that passes without a fond memory of a teacher or my recollecting the way they taught a particular topic/subject.

My Journey from “Manipal” to “Maple” land.........
They say “good student make good institutions” but I say the vice versa is all the more true. It is institutes like Manipal University that instil the zeal and passion for the subject in a student. With good infrastructure and amazing faculty, it provides the perfect stimulating environment which sows the seeds for lifelong learning and a strive for excellence.
With the similar virtues, I started my professional journey as an exclusive paediatric dentist working in a myriad of corporate chains in and around Delhi. With strong academic background, I balanced my clinical expertise with constant research and as an educator to keep the learning flame up and high. But sense of entrepreneurship and endeavour to perfection led me to opening of my own specialty centre for children and adolescents in Greater Noida providing the speciality care in most child friendly environment. After a couple of years of dedication to my centre, I was chosen for the internationally reputed paediatric dentistry fellowship, which is one of a kind in North America, at SickKids Hospital in Toronto, Canada. It was a unique opportunity to showcase my skills internationally and to learn and imbibe further expertise and knowledge in most medically complex population.
This fellowship has an exceptional amalgamation of all the spheres of paediatric dentistry. It provides me with abundant clinical experience, comprehensive operating room exposure (dental GA), remarkable research project, practice and knowledge of inhalational and deep sedation dentistry and emergency on-call responsibilities. The greatest challenge is to perform all of the above in medically complex population and children with special needs, which are the only children we treat, hence the name SickKids or The Hospital for Sick Children. To surmount it, I also got the exclusive training in NAM (naso-alveolar Moulding) , a pre-surgical infant orthopaedic modality for cleft babies from the very reputed New York University Langone Centre, by the brain and pioneer of the same, Dr. Grayson. Subsequently, I have been a part of the “craniofacial team” that provides multidisciplinary care to cleft children. I am also the principal investigator in a ten year retrospective analysis of odontogenic facial cellulitis. I also had the opportunity to attend international conferences like AAPD and CAPD as a post doctoral member. It provided me the chance to interact with fellow specialists and to look more
closely how the contemporaries work globally.
The journey so far has been extremely satisfying in terms of professional satisfaction, gain of knowledge and honing of my skills. This international exposure has endowed me with further proficiency, dexterity and comprehension of my specialty.
Nevertheless, the zeal to keep pushing the envelope and keep carving the niche always remain high. Let the journey be never ending.

"India is very fortunate to have a university like “Manipal University” which provides uncompromised education with international standards. Being a Physiotherapy student from MCOAHS helped me get top priority in securing admission in higher studies throughout the globe. The education curriculum of Physiotherapy courses in MCOAHS is well designed so that I could easily catch-up with western students during my higher studies in one of the best universities in Physiotherapy, but also achieve distinctions in majority of the subjects in my higher studies.
Being an alumnus of Manipal University helped me get best jobs with ease than other competent during my working career. Studying in Manipal University is a once in a life time experience in my life. Without any reservations, I’d advice all parents to seriously encourage their children to pursue their academic studies in Manipal University (especially in MCOAHS) which would not only make them gain maximum knowledge in their academics, but also make them better persons and better citizen of the country."

Hi, I’m Dr Saloni Krishnan. I’m a cognitive neuroscientist and an academic at Royal Holloway, University of London. My research focuses on the brain basis of developmental speech and language disorders. In terms of my training, I did a PhD at Birkbeck, University of London, my MSc at UCL, and my undergraduate degree at Manipal. I picked Manipal for my undergraduate degree because of its outstanding medical school and beautiful setting. Even though I wasn’t training to be a doctor, as a speech and language therapist, I knew the clinical setting would be invaluable.
Indeed, my clinical training was diverse and intensive; I had a chance to work with adults with brain lesions, children with communication disorders like autism and dyslexia, people who stammered, singers with voice issues - I could go on. I counted up my clinical hours at some point, and I spent over 2000 hours in clinics as a student. I know this clinical experience has stood me in great stead through my academic career –I have drawn on as a basis for my research questions. I’d definitely recommend Manipal as a place to study.

“I have great pleasure to give this feedback about Manipal Academy of Higher Education where my college education and my early years of career was spent. MAHE was a perfect combination of university and hospital environment where I learned most of my lessons both in my professional life and personal life. Allied Health Sciences college and Department of Respiratory Therapy is close to my heart as I was a student and faculty for many years there. Parrlon and Utsav always made our life colorful. Not to forget the Faculty cultural program son the Annual Day. Manipal is a happening place. Truly inspired by life.
I was fortunate to be the first MSc Respiratory Therapy student and first PhD Respiratory Care candidate of MAHE and India as well when we take the RT profession in to consideration. Life has to go on and we are what we learned during our early years of life. I owe my success and happiness to god almighty and my teachers and well-wishers at MAHE. Thank you.”

"It's a popular question once you just step out of college. 'How was your MBA?' I often reply by saying that the 2-year journey went real quick, at least to begin my answer. Joined SOM in the year 2016 with a dilemma but with the hope of gathering the necessities to build a career. Came in with the mindset that this will be just another step higher than your graduation. But the lessons learned during these two years were beyond my expectations. It was more of an all-round development, a life lesson. Apart from attaining the subject specialization, the curriculum helped me instill confidence and look at my career
from a different perspective, to identify what suits me. Thank all my faculty members, staffs and friends for all the support. Moreover, an awesome place to be at, love Manipal!"

"I am more happy to share that I completed my internship and externship in the Quality Assurance Department at Aster Medcity Kochi by July 2nd. Post my internship I am given the opportunity to work for a digital Healthcare startup company. Backed by Kerala Startup Mission called ShopDoc, which is the largest collaborative healthcare platform for smart primary clinics. I’m assigned the position of Project Lead for a special project under this company called “My school Clinix”, which is going to be the world’s first primary clinic for schools in the metaverse and will be implemented in India and UAE simultaneously. The duration of this project implementation is 6 months.
I strongly believe that all these small achievements are a result of strong mentorship from the very beginning of our college days and it’s a proud moment for me to say that I belong and come from the HIM family. Thank you to all the teachers for the support and guidance that was given at all levels.
